Topical antibiotic eye drops or ointment (for example,
chloramphenicol or fusidic acid) are prescribed for the initial
acute infection, but are otherwise of little value in treating a
chalazion. If a chalazion continues to enlarge or fails to settle

corticosteroid to help decrease the inflammation or larger ones may
